  • Comment: On p 45 the dimensions of Arthur Bairnsfather's two murals in Burlington are given as 21'x12', or aspect ratios of 1.75:1. The photo on p 80 of the Francis Speight mural in Gastonia suggests an aspect ratio of 3.37:1. On p 140 the Edward Laning mural in Rockingham is said to be 12'1.5"x7'3.75", or an aspect ratio of 1.66:1. But the mural's 3 panels appear to be lined up as for a single extended image. Removing the outer frames of this extended image would give an aspect ratio of 2.00:1. Page 161 specifies the dimensions of the Josef Presser mural in Southern Pines to be 12'x4'6", or an aspect ratio of 2.67:1. On p 210 the William F. Pfohl mural in Wilmington is specified to be 19'6"x6'6", or an aspect ratio of 3.00:1.
